  • Our Lord's Table Food Ministry

For ever 40 years, St. Paul’s has been committed to obeying our Lord’s teaching by feeding our neighbors in body as well as spirit. Our food bank distributes groceries to any who need them on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month. Our roadside 24/7 food pantry, stocked by volunteers of St. Paul’s, also provides sustenance for anyone in need at any time.

The Events page and our weekly newsletter always have the latest information about this ministry.

  • Military Matters

St. Paul’s has served the Fort Sam Houston community since its founding in 1883. Through this long association, we understand the difficulties faced by military families while service members serve at home or abroad. The Military Matters ministry, lead by former U.S. Army Chaplain the Rev. Dr. Karen Brandon, is committed to continuing that close relationship. As the world changes, and the U.S. military changes, Military Matters works to keep pace with those changes and provide a welcoming and inclusive home to its oldest neighbor.

Check the Events page or watch the weekly newsletter for Military Matters events.

  • LGBTQI+ Outreach

Our parish is LGBTQ+ affirming. While some members may hold different views, we as a community hold that being LGBTQI+ is fully compatible with being a Christian and is not sinful.

Our experience has taught us that the lives of LGBTQI+ people bear the fruits of the Spirit, and are a blessing to the Church no less than any other lives. Therefore, we make no distinction. LGBTQI+ people are fully included in the life of our church at every level, may, be married, and receive all the means of grace available to all other members of the community.

From marching in the local Pride Parade to speaking out on matters of public policy, we seek opportunities to stand with our LGBTQI+ siblings. These will be listed on the Events page and in our weekly newsletter.

  • St. Paul's Episcopal Montessori School

St. Paul’s Episcopal Montessori School is a special place where children feel at home, where they are loved and respected, and where they can grow and flourish in a holistic way. With an Episcopal foundation and through a Montessori approach, we guide children to love and respect the earth and the people around them, and we nurture their innate desire to positively contribute to their community.

The school was founded in 2005 by Kay Karcher Mijangos, a Montessori guide with 30 years of classroom experience and a dream to bring Montessori to underserved children in San Antonio.

Today, St. Paul’s is a beacon in education, attracting more than 75 children ranging in age from 18 months to 12 years from across San Antonio to the historic Government Hill neighborhood.

You can learn more at the school’s website.

  • Prayer Book Catholic Liturgy

St. Paul’s preserves and embodies a unique tradition of Anglican liturgical worship and sacramental piety. Known as Anglo-Catholicism, this is the heritage of “Prayer Book Catholics” who sought to recover the traditions of Catholicism within Anglicanism, and to seek closer relations with our Catholic siblings in Christ.

The rich ceremony, abundant incense, the bells and vestments all have a purpose. In these things we seek to worship God and encounter Christ in more than words, just as Christians have done since the first centuries.

For opportunities to participate in the rich liturgical and devotional life at St. Paul’s, check the Events page and subscribe to our weekly newsletter.

  • Music Ministry

The St. Paul's parish choir sings each week at the 10:30 AM choral Eucharist as well as for special services and Evensongs throughout the year. Additionally, the parish choir is joined by the St. Paul's junior choristers several times per year.

The choral repertoire at St. Paul's features classical music from both the Anglican and Catholic music traditions, ranging from medieval plainsong to contemporary classical choral compositions.
